From May to November 2017, I wrote for a gaming news website, Twinfinite, a site that pulls in over 10 million views a month. This has been valuable work experience for me, and I  felt my writing style grow and progress in my months working there. I have written over 100 news pieces, features, and guides thus far. Below are some of my favourite pieces of writing;

Top 10 Worst Games of This Console Generation so Far – “It had been eight years since the last entry in the series, and fans were dying to see more of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise. Back in the day, the series was easily the best and most popular set of skateboarding games ever.”

5 Gaming Plot Holes Big Enough You Could Drive a Truck Through Them – “There’s a huge amount of amazing games out there these days – many of which tell immense and sprawling stories. Unfortunately, this means that some games have massive plot holes that can at times leave a stain on a masterpiece of a game.”

8 Comic Books that Need Video Game Adaptations – “First up is a comic book character that we’re extremely surprised hasn’t been adapted into a video game yet. Morbius is, as his title would suggest, a man suffering from the effects of vampirism.”

Other Work Experience

Aside from work experience at Gamereactor and Twinfinite, I also have my own blog, SpamEsports, and have written for other blogs and my University’s news outlet, Staffslive. Staffslive is much more a mainstream news outlet that occasionally publishes videogame related content such as reviews, with a much stricter house-style.

The 5 most hype moments in Esports – SpamEsports – “Back in 2013, League of Legends was huge. Not quite anywhere near the giant of a game it is today, but it was steadily on track to becoming the most popular game of all time, which was announced merely a year later. One of the biggest things that League of Legends did around 2013 was contribute to the growth of the esports industry. League of Legends and esports go hand in hand, bouncing off of one another and growing exponentially.”

E.T Armies Review – Staffslive – “E T armies is the first game to come from Iran since trade sanctions were recently lifted. This derivative first person shooter sets no other precedent for games from the region, falling short of the western blockbuster shooters it attempts to replicate.”

Dub Dash Review – Staffslive – “Dub Dash is a fast-paced rhythm runner that involves avoiding obstacles at high speeds. At its core, it is a rhythm platformer where the player has to jump either left or right to avoid obstacles. There are nine levels to complete, and the game also features challenge and split-screen multiplayer modes.”

5 best retro games to play online – Squarepeggamers – “Perhaps one of the most iconic and defining games of the NES generation, The Legend of Zelda was first released in 1986, and it spawned one of Nintendo’s most successful franchises. Players would follow the hero, Link, on his quest to rescue Princess Zelda, and travel through an unknown world to stop the mysterious evil entity known only as Ganon.”
